It's the only book I read and couldn't decide if I loved or hated it...
The writing style was captivating and truly beautiful, but the horror this book holds is way too much...
Anyone who's willing to read it, make sure you check the trigger warnings first.

“What he knew, he knew from books. And books lied, they made things prettier.”
When you listen closely, you can hear a shatter. That was my heart breaking. No, I didn’t cry during or after reading this book. What happened was this: my heart sagged with a grief so heavy that I was unable to do anything, and had to stare at this book for a long time. After all, there’s only so much a 16 year old can suffer.
Please read ALL if you are above 20. It has extreme triggers and you might end up being seriously wrecked .
I am 16, but I still read it, but I shouldn’t have.
A Little Life was short listed for the Booker Prize and you can easily guess that this book is amazing.
But, ALL is really hard to get into for the initial three chapters, but when you get to Part 2 , you’ll begin to invest in the characters and then complete the novel. (Possibly have your heart broken)
A Little Life is actually the story of Jude with an unknown ethnicity, a secretive past. Jude is the string that holds the other three friends. ALL is a descent into the traumatic past of Jude, and the years from his college to adulthood.
It’s better if you look up more into the content warnings of the book and then decide to read it. I became so scared at a point that I started to question my decision to continue. I was scared of what I might find.
A densely character driven novel that makes you wonder about humanity and be grateful for everything you have in life.
A tear-jerker as well as an eye-opener .

trigger warnings: sexual abuse of adults and minors, drug abuse, verbal abuse, psychological abuse, self harm, suicide, drug use and drug addiction
I agree with Ivana this book should have a high rating because it is not a cute, angsty teenage story that people maybe make it out to be. I didn't not continue to the end because it was that bad
though the author's writing is phenomenal, like, crazy perfet. I recommend reading Hanya's other works

The first pages are hard to get through. Persevere though and you ll find it is one hell of a novel. I saw the play which is devastating to watch.

Hello V. Thank you for putting a warning sign. I decided to read the book regardless, to see how the main character killed himself.
Ps. You're still sh*t for spoiling.

This book was incredible but please read it with caution, it can be extremely triggering and hard to digest. It's not all sadness all the time either, but if you're not at least above 18, don't read it. I'm literally only 14 and... yeah, didn't go so great for me, but I'm fine. It doesn't mean just anyone can handle it though. If you're able to get through the hard parts, you see that it is an amazing novel and the writing is incredible.

If you want to find yourself sobbing late at night for characters you grow so attached to and have to put down the book for a while… this is it.
It’s been a very long time since a book utterly broke me.
Beautifully written character driven book (see I like them sometimes!) about our friends meeting in university in New York. It’s about their lives, their careers, their friendships, their high points but mostly their low ones.
Trigger warnings for… everything

How do I feel about this heartache ? Albert Camu says it better.
